Discipline. Precision. Art. Compassion. These concepts define my approach. Prior to becoming a mental health clinician, I had pursued a career as a classical musician. Mastering the intricate works of classical composers was technically demanding and exciting, but it was the inspiration, peace, and joy that I brought to my listeners that gave me a sense of purpose.  After doing some soul searching, I chose a path in psychiatry that would allow me to reach a wider audience of those seeking support and guidance.

The foundation of my practice began with an intensive psychodynamic training internship in 2005 at the prestigious Menninger Clinic, a top-ranked inpatient psychiatric pavilion in Houston, Texas (US News Report 2019).  I became a lead in the care of clients at Menninger’s exclusive ‘Professionals in Crisis’ unit. Utilizing a multi-modal psychodynamic approach, I helped athletes, physicians, tech entrepreneurs, musicians, and other professionals gain new found skills to navigate the challenges in their lives.

With nearing a decade tenure at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, I provided psychiatry and psychotherapy services with a multidisciplinary team. While at the VA, I achieved national certification as an insomnia specialist.  Along with a colleague, I implemented an insomnia program where I helped hundreds of clients gain control over their sleepless nights.

Additionally, I am an National Institute of Health (NIH) funded sleep researcher at UCSF investigating health outcomes of individuals who experience sleep disturbances.

Outside of work, I play the French horn with a community wind ensemble. I also enjoy hiking with my golden retriever, husband, and am a big sci-fi fan!
